Transport
Transport facility in Cochin is excellent. See, as given below, the different modes of transport:
By Air
The Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery is approximately 25 kms away from the Institute. Alternatively, one can take a flight to the Trivandrum International Airport, which is around 206 kilometres away from the Cochin. But then, you have to have a further connection by train (4 hours) or by car( 5 hours).
By Train
Book through the Ernakulam Town (North) Railway Station, or Ernakulam Junction(South) Railway Station. The Institute is 6 kilometres from the Ernakulam Town Railway Station, and approximately 8 kms away from the Ernakulam Junction Railway Station. These two Railway Stations are well-serviced by several long-distance and local trains (see Indianrailways.org)
By Bus
The Institute is just 8 kms away from the Ernakulam KSRTC Bus Station, which operates several buses to other towns and cities of Kerala, and of nearby States of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. There are also several private coach services connecting Ernakulam, with neighbouring cities and towns, mostly during nights (see www.keralatourism.org).ISED is just at a distance of two kilometres from the Vyttila Mobility Hub, the multi-mode transport hub of Cochin. While in the City, the Vyttila Circular Bus Service, which touches both the North and the South Railway Stations, will take you through the NH-47.Get down at the Puthiya Road Bus Stop; the Institute is just at walk able distance. Please note, buses in Cochin, unlike in other cities, are not numbered. Besides, destinations are often written in the local language, Malayalam. You are advised to seek the assistance of the bus crew, or at the nearest Passenger Assistance Booth.(Many of them understand English, you see!)
By Taxi
Taxis are available at the two railway stations, Airport, and at the Bus Station. Rates are,of course, at bargain; but you can seek the assistance of a Traffic Police constable .The Pre-paid Taxi Counter at the Nedumbassery Airport will charge you approximately Rs.800.00.Your destination is, "Ernakulam Medical Centre+1 Kilometre". Auto rickshaws also are available in large numbers.
